A FINE 12-BORE 'THE PREMIER IMPERIAL' SIDELOCK EJECTOR, serial no. 58875,
for 1897, 28in. nitro reproved bold damascus barrels, raised file cut rib carved with oak leaves at the breech end and with an oval engraved 'SCOTT'S IMPROVED BOLT', the right tube engraved 'W. & C. SCOTT & SON MAKERS' with the Scott tower trademark and the model designation 'The Premier Imperial' in gothic script , the left tube with '78, SHAFTESBURY AVENUE LONDON S.W. ENGLAND', the breech ends carved in high relief with further oak leaf detailing on a matted background, 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. and imp. cyl. choke, treble-grip action with side-clips, patent gas checks, automatic safety with engraved 'SAFE' detail, action flats with T. Southgate ejecting and safety mechanism patent details, patent no. 8239 of 24th April 1893, use number 1151, the fences and toplever carved in high relief with stylised acanthus swirls on a finely matted background, the action, lockplates and furniture profusely carved in relief with further oak leaves on a finely matted background interspersed with game birds in flight, the right side with partridge, the left with pigeon, woodcock and snipe, the underside with duck, the lockplates signed in small script with the maker's name, the rear of the triggerguard tang with a further Scott tower, old silver finish overall, 14 3/8in. well-figured pistolgrip stock with horn pistolgrip-cap and oakleaf carved skeletal buttplate, the hand with ornate fleur de lys chequering borders (refreshed, possible plug), the fore-end wood carved en suite, the iron with further oak leaves, weight 6lb. 12oz.
